Harry Hardin's Brother Ed Passes...

Harry’s brother Ed Hardin died on Wednesday morning, the 14th of September. Funeral rites will be held in his home town of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Notes of condolence to Harry and his family can be mailed to 6106 Larkspur Drive, Alexandria, VA 22310-1512 and to Harry.Hardin@verizon.net

Diocesan pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

Bishop Loverde has invited cursillistas to join with others in our diocese to participate in the diocesan pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, D.C. on Saturday, October 8, 2011, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The pilgrimage takes place every two years and this year’s theme is “Come, Worship the King of Kings!” A detailed schedule for the day and other information is available on the diocesan web site: (http://arlingtondiocese.org/worship/pilgrimage/index.php). We are also asked to bring a small banner that can be displayed on a pole with a stand at the closing Mass at 1:00pm. Pledge cards are being distributed to present an opportunity to commit to praying daily the Rosary and to spending time with Our Lord in the Eucharistic Adoration, These cards are available along with the other information. Hope you will join in this special day.

2nd Annual Cursillo Octoberfest Sept 17

Do you want to have the first crack at some delicious brats? The Cursillo Community will hold it's second annual Octoberfest from 6pm-10pm on Saturday Sept. 17, 2011 in the Fellowship Hall at St. John Neuman Parish.  We are requesting cursillistas to help make this successful and will need set up help, decorating help, cooking help [grill brats and hot dogs as well as set up prepared food; servers, clean up and servers for beer and wine].  Please contact Greg geglaros@gmail.com or John rausch.j@att.net to get on the list.  Your rewards in Heaven will be great!
         We have the Hall from 12noon until 11:30 pm and will need help beginning about 1pm in the afternoon.  Do not miss this event.  Last year about 80 people had a BALL. We want to double that.  SIGN UP now. Helpers get to sample brats early, of course.

Funeral arrangements for Bill Nary: Viewing will be Monday (July 25) evening 6:00 - 8:00PM at Murphy's Funeral Home on Broad St, in Falls Church. (***NOT in Arlington). The funeral Mass will be 11:00AM Tuesday July 26 at Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown, immediately followed by a reception at the parish, followed by burial in Columbia Gardens. Let’s keep each other and especially the Nary’s in prayer. Jane Duffy

The Mass of Christian Burial for Roger Furey

The Mass of Christian Burial for Roger Furey will be Friday, 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Beloved, McLean. There will be a reception at the Knights of Columbus after the Mass. 
Visitation at Murphy's Falls Church location (on Broad Street) will be on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Burial in Arlington will be at a later date.

Retreat for Seriously Ill & Diocesan Ultreya

The Retreat for the Seriously Ill will be held this Friday,  May 27 through Sunday, May 29 at the Dominican Retreat House, 7103 Old Dominion Drive, McLean.  It is a time of spiritual refreshment for those living with a serious illness.  Notes can be sent to a sister or brother in Christ to let someone know that we are praying for them.  There will be a serenade on Sunday morning at 8:30.  Bring flowers to share with the participants. 

Please join us at the Diocesan Ultreya at St. Charles Borromeo, 3304 N. Washington Blvd. Arlington on Saturday, June 4 after the 5:00 pm Mass.  I hope to see some of our new cursillistas from March and April.  It is also an opportunity to invite someone who might be interested in making a cursillo in the future.  Fall weekends will be September 22-25 for women and October 6 -9 for men at San Damiano in White Post, VA. 

Retreat for those Facing Serious Illness

 Retreat for those Facing Serious Illness being held at Dominican Retreat House on the Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-29).  Prayfull letters to the retreatants are greatly appreciated as well as attendance at the Serenade on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.  Donations of food/snacks can be delivered to Dominican anytime on Friday or Saturday.

Diocesan Ultreya 6:15 pm June 4

Help needed in Missionhurst Kitchen!

Help is needed!! The cook at Missionhurst is going on vacation on May 9 until the end of the month. A cook is needed to shop and prepare dinner each night from May 9 until May 31 for 7 people. Please contact Father Mike Hann at 703- 528-3800.

School of Leaders at Our Lady Queen of Peace April 16
